Nothing of interest happened to me except for getting wet. Others around me were somewhat less or more fortunate, depending on your viewpoint. Read about some of them on the Plus.net Community Site.

During working hours, of course! I’m first left on the second desk, in front of the guy with the cool dreads. I’ve moved, see the comments!

My friends know that I’m a bit of a political geek and like to keep abreast of what our elected representatives are doing, so I follow the Official Reports of the UK Parliaments with an almost religious fervour, although I’ve been a bit lazy recently and just been watching the BBC Parliament channel.
I’m also a huge fan of theyworkforyou.com, a volunteer-run website which republishes the Official Reports of the House of Commons, House of Lords and the Northern Ireland Assembly in a far friendlier form than the “official” sites, with the added bonus of public commentary and statistical analysis of the MP’s performance.
Missing from theyworkforyou.com is the Official Report of the Scottish Parliament, all the more sorely missing due to the now very interesting constitution of that body with its minority SNP government. Republishing an official record is no easy task, for a number of reasons that I’ll go into later, but I know for sure that I have all the requisite skills and tools to do it.
I’ve had this project on the back-burner for some months now and since I’m starting a new job soon, any spare time I might have to work on hobby projects is going to vanish.
So here I go. I don’t need to get it perfect - just far enough along so that someone else can pick up and complete the task.

Having a mate who works in a game store is a real bonus when it comes to play-testing. I took my Wii to the shop and we spent some time checking out all the games we could get our hands on (the ones returned for exchange mostly), so that I could figure out which ones I wanted to buy. Hey… there’s no such thing as a free lunch and not making your customers feel ripped off is good business!

We demonstrated theDiveBuzz.com, met some interesting people, drank beer and generally had a jolly good time. It’s nice to be a geek, sometimes.
Find out more on the BarCamp Sheffield wiki.

Yaaaaaay! Diving again, at last!
We arrived in Dahab late Wednesday night after a 6am start from Sheffield, an uneventful journey to the airport at Sharm el Sheikh and an interesting minibus transfer to our hotel, Bedouin Divers Lodge.
We’ve had four dives so far and one day off due to traveller’s tummy. Dives are planned for this afternoon so I’m taking this chance to get on the internet. I'’ll be writing about the diving on my DiveBuzz pages. My 2007 dives in Dahab on theDiveBuzz.com.
Update 3rd May 2007 We’re back! Look at my feet!

Now here’s something every diver should have - the Diving Almanac & Yearbook by Jeffrey J. Gallant, published by Porbeagle Press.
I have the 2007 edition and it’s brill! Chock-full of useful information about diving, and refreshingly for an American publication, covers an impressive proportion of the entire planet. Europe, for instance!
Excellent value at £11 for 550 pages. I’ll post an extensive review soon.

“No love, they only blow hot air.”
Yay! Snow in Sheffield again. Piccies just as soon as my camera batteries charge. Oh dear, my camera has failed doesn’t seem to like the cold! Anyways, a couple of pics from out front and back.

I was recently informed of the existence of Baxters Online Newsagent, from which I ordered a copy of Scuba Diving Magazine - an American publication that I have never seen in a shop. The magazine duly arrived within their promised timescale, at a charge of £1 over the cover price.
The site is well-designed, the product range is impressive, their feedback is responsive and the service works. Recommended.
They do adult magazines as well.
