Dear Igor et. al,

PAY ATTENTION! YOU ARE IN TROUBLE. YOU ARE BREAKING BRITISH LAW.

For some time now, you and others like you have been attempting to use my blog to sell drugs. The drugs you sell are available only by prescription in the UK which is where I am based. Your attempts to sell drugs only available by prescription through my blog is breaking British law, or worse, asking me to break it for you. so YOU MUST STOP.

My blog has a readership which includes children, my own in particular. Was it your childhood dream to make a living pushing pills to kids, Igor?

May I help you do something better with your life?

Yours sincerely,

Paul Mitchell a.k.a Libertus, Sheffield, UK

This takes us back to the violent pornography debate. Why should one nation’s laws apply to the international web?

  2. KaosMark2 says:

They shouldn’t, however the question is to what extent the web should be monitored.
If it is monitored, then you could then use information gained on the web to track other crimes, including acts such as the mentioned violent sex, or selling drugs, in the physical world, without actually restricting content present on the web. However the moment any government starts to truly monitor the internet it could lead to the USA, via the UN, (or even a different country) to enforce certain information to be restricted from the internet.

I would hope that you could monitor the internet without leading onto restrictions on it. However whether that would be possible is another matter.

    me_lkjhgfdsa,

It’s not quite the same as the pornography debate. In this case, the content in question (drug-pushing spam) is not being published. If I were to publish it, I would risk breaking the law.

I’m taking the human approach. Somewhere, behind the spam, there is a person. That person may not realise the extent to which their activities are causing trouble. They may care, they may not. I am simply giving them fair warning before I turn the long arm of British law against them.

It may not reach to where they live, but just see what happens if they ever decide to visit these fair isles. Known drug pushers are not welcome in the UK. Where are they welcome, I wonder?

while you are having that little discussion they are blocking your search algorithm. you might want to amend that!

“The website you’ve just visited has tried to provide you with search results from Google. Unfortunately, the site violates our terms of service so your search could not be completed”

The changes have been made locally but are awaiting quality assurance. Besides, I’m planning to negotiate with Google to get the ads back, even though their search sucks.
